ADC

Duncan Smith (BA,
MEd), Founder and Principal
Founder and Principal of ADC Associates, Duncan has been working with
organizations, teams and individuals for over 30 years in the United
States, Western Europe, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region. An expert
in enhancing the performance of organizations, groups, and individuals,
he is regarded internationally as one of the Asia-Pacific region’s
most experienced consultants in valuing and managing diversity. Duncan
is particularly known for his ability to link performance and diversity
initiatives with core business issues: increasing productivity, responding
to globalization, attracting and retaining top talent, developing more
effective leaders, enhancing creativity, innovation, and problem solving
capabilities, and improving service delivery.
As a consultant, manager and executive educator, Duncan has focused
his work in the fields of organizational development and diversity since
1988, working with multi-national companies, national and state governments,
academia, and the non-profit sector. He has been Regional Diversity
Advisor for Asia-Pacific and Japan for Hewlett Packard, and is an Honorary
Fellow of the Melbourne Business School. Other clients include Cadbury
Schweppes, Caterpillar, the Australian government, Goldman Sachs JBWere,
National Australia Bank, the National Diversity Think Tank, Shell, the
governments of Victoria and Tasmania, Towers Perrin, Westpac, and WMC.
As an OD consultant, Duncan focuses on working with executive and management
teams, both in groups and one-on-one. He assists clients to identify
and link business and personal performance motivators, to identify and
overcome blockages to effective performance, and to develop new, more
effective processes and behaviors for positive outcomes.
Duncan’s diversity strengths include designing and implementing
organizational diversity strategies linked to business outcomes, generating
culturally appropriate diversity solutions for global initiatives, measuring
and evaluating diversity programs, in-depth work in gender and cultural
diversity, and executive coaching and education.
A native of Boston (USA), Duncan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Religion from Trinity College (USA), which focused on Asian religion
and culture, and a Master of Education degree from Harvard University,
focusing on Organizational Behavior and Adult Learning. He has published

Eliza Centre for Executive Education. He is an Honorary Fellow of the
Melbourne Business School, and is also an accredited administrator of

With a strong interest in linking the globalization of commerce to the
development of an equitable global society, Duncan focuses his work
on the impact of national, organizational, and personal culture on successful
